After the 6:3 in the first round, Sakkari fended off set points from the Croatian seeded number five in the tie-break and then converted her first match point to advance to the semi-finals.
Galfi resigned against Vondrousova
Also in the semi-finals is Marketa Vondrousova, who benefited from the injury-related retirement of her opponent Dalma Galfi when the score was 4-1. Anna-Lena Friedsam, 2015 finalist in Linz, lost to Anastasia Potapova (Rus) 6-2, 4-6, 1-6.
The semi-finals will take place on Saturday (from 2 p.m.), the title will be contested on Sunday from 3 p.m.
