Chiara Kreuzer and Sara Marita Kramer are also missing two aces from the women’s World Championship team in Romania, but World Cup leader Eva Pinkelnig will compete. For Daniel Huber, however, the season is probably over, he will probably have to undergo another operation and will be out for at least several weeks.
The man from Salzburg recently made his World Cup comeback after recovering from cartilage damage in his right knee. According to ÖSV information, wear and tear in the left hip joint should now urgently require another operation. The procedure is currently being clarified with medical experts.
The World Cup fixed starters Stefan Kraft, Manuel Fettner, Michael Hayböck, Jan Hörl and Daniel Tschofenig will meanwhile be prepared with head coach Andreas Widholzl in peace for the next week’s World Cup in Planica. The ÖSV is therefore sending Clemens Aigner, Philipp Aschenwald, Andre Fussenegger, Timon Pascal Kahofer, Markus Rupitsch, Julijan Smid and Jonas Schuster to Rasnov.
Schalchenerin could recommend himself
In addition to Pinkelnig, Schalchenerin Julia Mühlbacher, Jacqueline Seifriedsberger and Hannah Wiegele compete in the women’s category. In Rasnov there will be two individual competitions for women, one for men and a super team competition on the normal hill from Friday to Sunday.
After her next victory and a second place in Hinzenbach, Pinkelnig is about a preliminary decision in the overall World Cup because some of her fiercest rivals will be absent. “The home World Cup in Hinzenbach couldn’t have gone better for me. I’ll take this momentum with me to Rasnov,” emphasized the Vorarlberg native. The ÖSV will announce the World Cup squads after the competitions at the beginning of next week.
