The war moved to football: Russian and Ukrainian players fought each other in Turkey

And, despite almost a year after the start of the conflict, the confrontations continue to escalate.

On this occasion, the real protagonists were the Ukrainian and Russian footballers, who clashed in the corridors of a hotel in Turkey where they do the concentration. The violence reached such a point that the police had to intervene. Police and other clubs later joined the controversy.

The crossing originated in the Hotel Royal Seginus in the city of Antalya. In that place, the players of Shinnik Yaroslavlfrom the Russian second division, and members of the Minaj FC, from the first category of Ukraine, could not put aside the war that transcends them. And they met twice.

According to the Iusport media, from the Russian side, the conflict began when a Ukrainian soccer player called the captain of the Russians and wanted to force him to sing the anthem of his country. In response, the Shinnik leader asked to continue the discussion on the street.

Meanwhile, from the Ukrainian side they offered another answer. They indicated that the origin of the altercation occurred after one of the Russian athletes would have behaved inappropriately after having drunk alcohol. The situation provoked the reaction of the Minaj players. However, the police intervened and the situation calmed down. At least temporarily, says La Nación.

However, there was a second crash. A group of footballers from the Ukrainian club met again in an elevator with a rival from the Russian team and attacked him. As the doors opened, other Russian footballers waiting to get on the elevator sprang into action and a brawl broke out.

According to the Telegram channel Mutko Protyev, the Russian footballer Ilya Gruznov ended up with a fractured rib, while his partner Dimitry Samoilov suffered a broken finger.

Serghei Kulakov, Shinnik’s general director, confessed in dialogue with the Russian news agency Ria Novosti that he cannot understand how the two teams ended up staying in the same hotel.

“We had made the reservations in November and we had expressly asked not to meet Ukrainians who were staying at the hotel to avoid any problems,” he said. “I understand that this is a business, but security should be the priority,” she lamented.
