Karim Adeyemi needed a lot of effort in Dortmund – yesterday the 21-year-old paid back part of the 30 million euros that the club had transferred to Salzburg last summer as a transfer fee: The German team player scored the decisive goal in the round of 16 first leg of football Champions League 1-0 win over Chelsea.
After a corner kick for the Londoners, Adeyemi played his pace on the counterattack and ended up edging past goalkeeper Kepa (63′). The goal extended Dortmund’s winning streak: Borussia won all seven competitive games in the new year. Yesterday, however, there was a lot of luck in the game: before the break, Chelsea’s Joao Felix hit the crossbar (38′), in the 78th minute the Londoners were again missing centimetres: Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel was unable to tame Kalidou Koulibaly’s shot, the ball rolled towards the goal – but Emre Can was able to save exactly on the line. In stoppage time it was Kobel who saved the win with a save from Enzo Fernandez’s shot.
Mbappe encouraged Paris
Bayern’s starting position is also good after the 1-0 win at Paris Saint-Germain. “The first step has been taken, we want to take the second step,” said Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann. Kylian Mbappe encouraged PSG for the second leg on March 8: “We have to get up in the last part of the game,” said the 24-year-old, who came on after recovering from a muscle injury.
