“Here in Steyr I fell in love with football again.” With an emotional message, Alberto Prada announced the end of his career at the regulars’ table of members of SK Vorwarts Steyr on Wednesday. After four years with the second division soccer club, the 34-year-old is entering his last half-season. “Lately I’ve lost a bit of my enthusiasm for football, so I’ve made the decision that it will be my last six months in professional football.” In this, the flagship professional with the red and white still wants to keep the league. “I am convinced that we can do it.”
Hopefully he can make a contribution soon: in today’s test match dress rehearsal against Czech second division club Taborsko (2-2), the central defender had to leave the field after half an hour because of a bruised heel. Bitter for the Madlener team, which with Satin, Günes, Lageder, Bitsche or Yilmaz rested some ailing regulars: Nico Wiesinger also dropped out in the finish with a ligament injury.

Battle for the last places
