Sergio Ramos was able to choose his new club after leaving Real Madrid. Now PSG has been awarded the contract.
The Spanish central defender Sergio Ramos joins the French top club Paris Saint-Germain after leaving Real Madrid. The club initially announced this involuntarily on Wednesday when an interview with Ramos surfaced on the PSG website.
For how many years Ramos has signed with PSG, the club will only reveal in the official announcement. In any case, one thing becomes clear from the interview: Ramos will wear the shirt number 4 at PSG, which Thilo Kehrer had in the past season.
“I’m superstitious about the number 4, because I’ve been wearing it since the beginning of my career. It has accompanied me all my life, haunted me, brought me luck – and also many victories,” said Ramos. “Now the number 4 is a part of me, personally and professionally. It is really something very special that I can wear my number 4 here in Paris,” said the Spaniard.
PSG deleted the interview later in the evening. An official report is now expected for Thursday.
Contract expired: Ramos and Real without an agreement
Ramos announced his departure from Real Madrid in mid-June after 16 years. The defender and Los Blancos had not been able to agree on a contract extension.
After Georginio Wijnaldum (Liverpool FC) and Achraf Hakimi (Inter Milan), Ramos is PSG’s third big-name newcomer.
