Formula 1 presents record calendar for 2022

The executive director of the Formula 1Italian Stefano Domenicali said the 2022 season will run “from mid-March to mid-November” to avoid a clash with the Qatar World Cup, which will begin later that month.

The draft calendar was approved last Wednesday in London by all participating teams and will be released on Friday by the International Automobile Federation (FIA).

According to reports, the Chinese Grand Prix is not included as a firm competition but as a possible option in case a race fails, highlights the newspaper Mundo Deportivo.

Formula 1 sees China as a “key growth market” but the race, which usually takes place in April, was canceled in 2020 and also this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic and travel restrictions.

China will host the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing in February and has canceled or rescheduled sporting events since the start of the pandemic.

The Italian Imola circuit, which was a substitute for races canceled this year and last, would take the place of China, while Miami will appear as a second scheduled race in the United States.
