Fixed change: SK Schärding and coach Straif go their separate ways in the summer

Next Saturday, SK Schärding will make a guest appearance at Union Gschwandt for the start of spring. But even before the fourth-placed in the Landesliga West kicks off the second half of the current season, a fundamental decision has already been made for the coming season: Coach Bernhard Straif, who has been in charge of coaching in Schärding since spring 2019, will hand it over to a new one in the summer. Andreas Michl, sporting director of the SKS, confirms this in the OÖN interview: “Bernhard recently informed us that he is still playing through the season with us and will then end his work in Schärding.” According to Michl, the search for a successor has already been successful. In the four seasons under Bernhard Straif – including the two canceled Corona seasons – Schärdinger always ended up in the top three. Now, after four years, it is time for a change, Straif told OÖN. “It was a relatively successful time for me in Schärding. But now the point has come where the team may need a breath of fresh air again. That’s why I’ve already informed the board of my decision so that there is enough time to look for a coach.” His The coach from Zell an der Pram leaves his own future completely open. “I’ll let it come to me. If something interesting comes up, I won’t say no because I like being a coach,” says Straif. “But I’m not offended if I can go on vacation longer in the summer.”
