Boca, a win over Huracán and the intact illusion of continuing in the fight

Agustín Almendra (32m PT), Luis Vázquez (16m ST) and Marcos Rojo (from penalty, 30m ST, his first goal with the blue and gold jersey), scored the goals of Boca, who reached Lanús in the third step of the positions with 27 points, behind River Plate (leader with 33) and Talleres de Córdoba (shooting guard with 32).

Huracán, which came from three consecutive victories, was 22, in eleventh place with Racing Club.

Driven by his hot streak, Huracán stopped better than Boca at the start of the match. With high pressure and an intelligent occupation of the spaces, the local became owner of the ball and prevented his rival from being comfortable on the field.

Thus the “Globo” was approaching with some assiduity to the arch of Agustín Rossi, who became one of the figures with a few good interventions. And he had a fortune share in the clearest of the premises, when Lucas Vera took a ball outside the area and took a great shot that crashed on the crossbar.

But little by little Sebastián Battaglia’s team was matching the actions, especially from the work of Cristian Pavón and Almendra. With mobility, judgment and outlook, they were Boca’s two best values along with the goalkeeper.

And precisely the three intervened in the opening of the result. Rossi stopped a header from Ibáñez and left quickly, Pavón was making his way from the left towards the center and touched for Vázquez and the forward rebounded for Almendra, who controlled about 30 meters from the goal and took a beautiful right hand: the ball rose slightly and He beat Marcos Díaz’s effort to make it 1-0.

Later the game was “heating up” by a confrontation between plateistas and the substitutes of Boca and a reaction of the visitor when Huracán, with a shot from Cóccaro that Rossi took to the side, almost tied while Molinas had been on the ground for several seconds after an uncollected foul.

The second half began with the same characteristics, with the middle as a transit area. Hurricane had a very clear chance for the tie before the minute of play, a heads up that Cabral defined high before the departure of Rossi; and Boca responded with an approach from Vázquez that Marcos Díaz had to foul the striker and won the yellow.

As in the previous stage, Huracán was superior to Boca in those initial passages of the complement and always left a greater sense of danger in his attack plays.

But his lack of effectiveness was blurring him and a rude error deepened the disadvantage: at 16m Quilez wanted to touch back for Díaz but fell short and the kid Vázquez capitalized on it, who took the ball and sent it, calm, left-handed, to 2 to 0.

When at 20m Cabral returned to define badly, only against Rossi and after a slip by Weigandt in the area, the fate of the match seemed defined. So it was: the “Globo” no longer had the ability to react and Boca decorated the result with Rojo’s goal, a penalty, after a foul by Henríquez against Weigandt in the area.

Thus, after a start to the tumbles, in which it took seven days to achieve its first victory (against Patronato, after reaping two falls and four draws, then with the technical leadership of Miguel Ángel Russo), Boca is already third and wait for a slip from above to get excited.

On the next date of the contest, 17th, Huracán will visit Banfield (Wednesday from 7:00 p.m.) and Boca will receive Godoy Cruz de Mendoza in the Bombonera (the same day but at 9:15 p.m.).

And next weekend, for the 18th day, the “Globo” will be local in the classic with San Lorenzo, on Sunday 24 at 18.
