The winning streak of FC Blau-Weiss Linz in the 2nd soccer league has ended: After eight complete successes in a row, coach Gerald Scheiblehner’s team couldn’t get past a draw in yesterday’s 1-1 (1-0) in Lafnitz – and had to give up their place at the top of the table after just one game due to St. Pölten’s victory over the Young Violets (2:0).
Fally Mayulu gave Blue and White the lead in the 27th minute. A Lafnitz kicker had unluckily extended a header, the Frenchman had pulled away and gave home goalie Andreas Zingl no chance with a lob. Linzer also distributed a gift before the equalizer: BW goalkeeper Nicolas Schmid missed a free-kick cross, Sebastian Feyrer scored to make it 1-1 (51st).
Steyr gave away the victory
Forward Steyr also had to accept a bitter 1:1 (0:0) against Kapfenberg. After the late lead (82nd) by substitute Faris Zubanovic, whose permission to play had only arrived on yesterday’s matchday, the home side looked to be sure winners – of all things, a mistake by Steyr goalie Nikolas Polster in added time brought coach Daniel Madlener’s team about the first spring success: The 20-year-old goalkeeper slipped on an attempt to hit the ball, Mark Grosse only had to push in (92nd).
