The private plane in which the 28-year-old Argentine player and the pilot traveled David Ibbotson crashed in the English Channel, on January 21, 2019.
The exact attacker of the Nantes French had been transferred to Cardiff City by 17 million euros ($ 20.4 million).
The player’s body, whose death shocked the football world, was located in the plane’s carcass more than two weeks after the accident, at a depth of 67 meters. The 59-year-old pilot’s remains were never found.
In the final report, published in March 2020, the British Air Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) determined that the aircraft driver lost control due to a maneuver carried out at a very high speed, “probably” to avoid bad weather.
The plane, a Piper PA-46 Malibu, would have been damaged in that maneuver, and investigators believe that the pilot “probably” was poisoned by carbon monoxide from the engine’s exhaust system.
The researchers also underscored that the flight was not carried out in accordance with the rules applied to commercial flights. The pilot sailed at night, in difficult weather conditions and did not have a license to fly this type of plane or to fly at night.
The plane had a speed of 435 km / h when hitting the water, according to the AAIB, which ruled out any possibility of survival.
