As already reported, the current coach of SK Schärding, Bernhard Straif, will end his work at the Landesliga-West-Klub at the end of the current season. Straif already informed the club of his decision in winter. This enabled him to start looking for a suitable successor at an early stage. As the club announced on Monday, this was now successful. Holger Stemplinger is the name of the new man who will take a seat on the Schärdinger coaching bench from the coming season. “Holger is currently the head of youth development at FC Passau. But we got in touch when he was a coach at SV Freinberg,” says Andreas Michl, sporting director of the SKS. Stemplinger was a player, among other things SV Schalding-Heining and FC Passau. As the holder of the UEFA A license, the 38-year-old also has plenty of experience as a coach at his young age.
“Nice snapshot”
“For me as sporting director, it’s extremely important that we can make the decision so early,” says Michl. “We can already have talks with the current squad because we already have a concrete plan for next season.” In the current season, the club from the district capital started the second half of the season perfectly with two wins from two games. Since leader Bad Schallerbach and first pursuer Grieskirchen each started with two draws, Schärdinger are suddenly back in touch with the top positions. “We didn’t really expect that anymore,” says Michl. “It’s great that we can get back into the fight for the title. But it’s nothing more than a nice snapshot. We’ll watch from game to game and then we’ll see what’s really possible.” But the Schärdingers can sit back and watch their competitors next weekend. The game-free round is coming up.
