After the disappointing World Cup, the German national soccer team is planning a new start.
This is reflected in the 24-man team squad for the international matches against Peru (March 25/Mainz) and Belgium (March 28/Cologne), in which coach Hansi Flick called Mergim Berisha, a former LASK and Salzburg striker. The 24-year-old recently drew attention to himself with goals and good performances at FC Augsburg.
With Josha Vagnoman, Marius Wolf, Kevin Schade and Felix Nmecha there are four other newcomers. Florian Wirtz returns after a cruciate ligament tear. Emre Can is also celebrating a DFB comeback.
“It’s our job to look for alternatives and broaden the squad. New influences are important for a team to live and develop,” said Flick, who is doing without Ilkay Gündogan, Leroy Sane, Niklas Süle and Antonio Rüdiger this time. Captain Manuel Neuer is injured.
