It was the next bad news for SV Guntamatic Ried on Monday morning. After a few minutes, director Stefan Nutz went down in his 146th competitive game for the Innviertler. The 31-year-old immediately grabbed his left knee and indicated that he would be replaced. The rescue workers immediately took Nutz to the hospital, where, unfortunately, an MRI examination confirmed his fears. The Rieder playmaker suffered a torn cruciate ligament and a torn collateral ligament. Before the start of the qualifying group, this failure is the next blow to the neck for Rieder in the relegation battle.
“Of course it’s extremely bitter for us,” says SV Ried sports director Wolfgang Fiala in the OÖN interview. “Stefan Nutz was in very good form, now we have to try to compensate somehow,” says Fiala. Born in Styria, he has been under contract with Riedern since 2019. In the In the second division, the playmaker led the Innviertler team into the Bundesliga with an outstanding 28 points (six goals, 22 assists). Nutz’s contract expires in the summer. So was the game against WAC maybe his last in the SV Ried shirt? “I don’t know Stefan Nutz’s personal plans, but I’m sure that the club won’t let him down in this situation. The most important thing now is that he can recover well,” says Fiala.
Due to the serious injury to Stefan Nutz, Julian Wießmeier, who has hardly had a chance to play recently, could play a more important role again. The veteran, who has already played 184 competitive games for Rieder, could be an option in the position of playmaker in the decisive ten games in the qualifying group.

Injury streak continues
For SV Ried, an almost unbelievable series of injuries continues this season. Midfielder Nikola Stosic tore his cruciate ligament in the first round against Rapid and had to have another knee operation in February. Denizcan Cosgun also tore his cruciate ligament in the home game against LASK on February 18 without any outside influence. Captain Marcel Ziegl has been out since October after knee surgery. After another operation on his knee, the 30-year-old is currently working on his comeback. He could return to the team during the crucial phase of the season. At least there is good news from goalkeeper Samuel Sahin-Radlinger. He will return to team training this week after suffering a meniscus injury. “These many knee injuries give us food for thought. Maybe it’s bad luck, but we still have to analyze it,” says Fiala.
