The Black Wings did what was not thought possible and forced Bozen into a Game 7. Although the foxes have the trumps in their hands due to home law and the individual line-up, a lot can happen when the decision has to be made in a single game – in both directions.

Head coach Philipp Lukas in an interview before game 7 in Bolzano:

But there is one statistic that undoubtedly speaks for the Black Wings: Since entering the Bundesliga in the 2000/2001 season, Linz have been in playoffs (game 7 in best-of-seven series or game 5 in best-of- Five series) undefeated. Depending on how they are counted, Linz have celebrated six or seven wins in six or seven play-offs. If you only count the playoff series from the quarterfinals, there are six. If you also include this year’s best-of-three series against Graz, there are even seven playoff wins. More about this in the following article:

But don’t be under any illusions: The foxes from Bozen have won 23 of 27 home games this season, were winners of the regular season and are also the clear favorites in this game 7. But Linz has already proven three times this season that you can perform at the important time: only by winning game 2 and game 3 of the pre-playoffs did you even make it into the quarter-finals. And even after game 6 on Sunday, the Linzer season could have ended. But things turned out differently.

Because it was so nice: Martin Schumnig’s overtime game winner again in the video

“It was a massive win on Sunday. It couldn’t have been bigger. We were ready to take on the fight and we will be on Tuesday,” said Graham Knott, who played the pass to Schumnig. When asked what factor viewers played in Sunday’s game, the center said: “It’s incredible and we’re grateful to have such fans. There’s nothing like that in North America, not even close. My parents raised me in Linz visited and they were overwhelmed by the chanting and the drumming. It’s really cool to play in a hall like this in front of the fans. They help us a lot.”

“The game had the character of a heart attack,” says Martin Schumnig about Game 6:

In order to shorten the time until the game, there is a recommendation for the icebreaker podcast, which is currently all about the 20th anniversary of Linz’s first championship title. Listen to the current episode with Markus Peintner:
