The Roman derby not only caused heated scenes on the pitch. Right in the middle, instead of just being there: After the narrow derby defeat of his AS Roma against city rivals Lazio, star coach José Mourinho quarreled with its president Claudio Lotito. This emerges from reports in the Italian newspapers Gazzetta dello Sport and Corriere della Sera.
According to Italian media, Mourinho and Lotito are said to have attacked each other in anger. It was “The Special One” that started the argument by insulting the Lazio president with “What the hell are you looking at me for?”
Lotito promptly replied: “I am the President of Lazio and you are a guest. This is my home and I go where I want. And you shouldn’t be here.” Even Mourinho’s assistant coach Salvatore Foti and Lazio midfielder Danilo Cataldi are said to have intervened to prevent a scuffle between the two. Now even the Italian federal prosecutor’s office is said to have intervened to work up the catacomb Zoff.
