Can Gmunden make it to the top?

Since November 30, the OCS Swans Gmunden have lost just one of their 22 competitive basketball games. That was on January 22 at home against the reigning champions and Superliga leaders BC Vienna (82:95).

Tomorrow (7 p.m.) the “Korbjäger” from Traunsee want to turn the tables and climb to the top with the best players with an away win – it would be the second in Vienna. “This is the team that needs to be beaten. We have to stand up to them and be active,” says Gmunden coach Anton Mirolybov.

Should his team finish the placement round in first place, that would mean home rights to a possible play-off final. “We need a good throwing day against these physically strong opponents,” emphasizes CFO Harald Stelzer.

The Welser Flyers have been warned

A performance like the 85:73 against St. Pölten will probably not be enough. Speaking of St. Pölten: Tomorrow (7 p.m.), the Lower Austrians will be guests at the third-placed Raiffeisen Flyers from Wels, who are hot for their second home win in a row.

“We’ve been warned, we mustn’t let our opponents force their game on us,” says coach Sebastian Waser, referring to the 71-80 defeat in the most recent duel between the two teams. St. Pölten’s coach Mike Coffin finds his way in Wels brilliantly, he was in office here from 2015 to 2017.
