A bang on Säbener Straße: According to reports, record-breaking soccer champions FC Bayern Munich are parting ways with coach Julian Nagelsmann with immediate effect. A successor should already be ready.
FC Bayern Munich is kicking out its previous coach Julian Nagelsmann. The “Bild” newspaper and the usually well-informed Italian sports journalist Fabrizio Romano report this on Thursday evening. Corresponding information is also available to the “Kicker”. According to the football magazine, the only thing missing for an official announcement is the signature of the desired successor Thomas Tuchel at the German record champions. According to information from Sky, Nagelsmann will be informed of the decision by the Bayern management on Friday.
Julian Nagelsmann German champion with Bayern Munich
Former Mainz and Dortmund coach Tuchel was released from Chelsea at the start of the season following a Champions League defeat by Dinamo Zagreb. He was also under discussion as Tottenham’s new manager. Should Bayern Munich actually engage the 49-year-old, there would be a piquant reunion after the international break: In the top Bundesliga game on April 1, the club will meet Tuchel’s former club Borussia Dortmund.

Julian Nagelsmann only took over the Bayern team at the beginning of the 2021/2022 season and became German champion straight away, but was eliminated from the cup and the Champions League. The contract of the 35-year-old actually ran until the end of June 2026.
Things have recently become much more restless on Säbener Straße, including the dismissal of goalkeeper coach Toni Tapalović, the search for a “mole” who is said to have leaked internal information, or Nagelsmann insulting a team of referees as “pack”.
In the current season, Bayern have gambled away their lead over BVB and slipped down to second place in the Bundesliga table. Last weekend the team lost 2-1 at Bayer Leverkusen. Bayern have reached the quarter-finals in both the DFB Cup and the Champions League. Winning three titles is still possible – but now without Julian Nagelsmann on the bench.
