The World Championships will open for the first time today with a sprint race (4 p.m.) in the premier class, before the actual Grand Prix begins on Sunday (from 12 p.m., live Servus TV).
Rival Ducati last set the tone in the test drives. “That’s a brute force they’re wielding at the moment. You have to acknowledge that without envy”, says KTM motorsport director Pit Beirer, who also had to witness a serious crash by GasGas driver Pol Espargaro in yesterday’s free practice session. There was better news from the smaller classes. With Pedro Acosta in Moto2 and Daniel Holgado in Moto3, KTM riders came out on top in the practice sessions.
