Argentine Francisco Farabello, a member of the Creighton team, advanced to the quarterfinals of the National College Athletic Association (NCAA) of university basketball in the United States, defeating Princeton 86-75.
The so-called ‘Bluejays’ from the city of Omaha, Nebraska, beat the New Jersey ‘Tigers’ at the KFC stadium in Louisville, Kentucky.
Farabello, 22 years old and a native of Olavarría, was on the court for 20 minutes, coming on from the substitutes’ bench.
The guard, 1.91 meters tall and son of Daniel (former DT of Riachuelo de La Rioja), finished with a 3-point scoresheet (1-3 in triples), 3 rebounds and one assist, according to the official website of the competition.
The top scorer for the ‘Bluejays’ was center Ryan Kalkbrenner, with a balance of 22 points (9-12 in doubles, 4-4 in free kicks), 5 rebounds, 2 goal passes and a block in the 34 minutes he remained in the playing box.
In other Division I results, Texas defeated Xavier, 83-71; Miami defeated Houston 89-75 and San Diego St. eliminated first-seeded Alabama with a 71-64 win.
