LINZ. Although the Steinbach Black Wings’ ice hockey championship ended eight days ago in the seventh play-off quarterfinal game in Bozen, the season has been extended for some cracks. Yesterday, Austria’s team boss Roger Bader nominated his squad for the first of five preparatory camps for the A World Championships in Tampere and Riga (May 12th to 28th).
The list includes five Linz players, Ramon Schnetzer, Raphael Wolf, Stefan Gaffal, Emilio Romig and Niklas Bretschneider. The first Black Wings addition – Nico Feldner (Innsbruck) – was also taken into account.
“We want the players to push themselves and show their best side in the short time available. Everyone knows that it’s worth stepping on the gas right from the start. Everyone called up has the chance to take part in the World Cup,” said Bader.
