Doman will sue Moyano

Independiente announced yesterday that it will file a civil lawsuit against former leaders Hugo Moyano and Héctor Maldonado, while it will appeal the case of soccer player Gonzalo Verón and continue with the investigations into the sale of Nicolás Figal’s economic rights to Major League Soccer. “The Board of Directors of Independiente unanimously resolved to empower the president and the general secretary of the entity, to criminally denounce former leaders, partners and third parties outside the institution, for the irregularities found in the judicial files of Gonzalo Verón, the sponsorship does not collected from OCA and the sale of Jorge Nicolás Figal’s economic rights to the MLS”, the statement begins.

In it, it is detailed that the club will make “the corresponding appeals in the different provincial courts” in order to avoid the execution of the sentence handed down by the Labor Court 2 of Avellaneda, in favor of Verón, who won a lawsuit imposed for “lack of payment of salaries and unfair dismissal”. This ruling implies that Independiente must pay 2,300 million pesos to the player and by not having enough money, it puts the possession of Wilde’s property, offered as collateral, at risk.

As for the OCA case, Independiente confirmed that “prejudicial mediations have ended” with Moyano, former president, and Maldonado, former secretary general, and therefore they will initiate “a civil lawsuit” to “recover the money not received for the use of the image of the institution through clothing sponsorship”.

In another vein, the squad trained yesterday at the Villa Domínico stadium with a view to Saturday’s classic against San Lorenzo. After the practice, Sergio Barreto spoke with the press and referred to the football level that the Avellaneda team is going through. “I know that I am not at my best level, but I am working with Monzón to recover. There was a lot of talk about me and the contract renewal, but I always had my head set on Independiente”, pointed out the defender who emerged from the Inferior Leagues. And he added: “Monzón told me that he was going to help me recover my level. We feel comfortable with him. A sadness that Leandro (Stillitano) has left, but the results were not given.
