“I want you to find the way so that we can all celebrate together in South America the 100 years of the World Cup,” remarked the Conmebol executive, applauded by the audience at its permanent headquarters in Asunción. “It’s not just the World Cup. It’s the Centennial Cup,” he specified.
Domínguez asked to open a table for talks with the presidents of the five confederations to convince them to grant the place to South America by mutual agreement.
“We want a dialogue table to open through you. We want to dialogue and give history a chance”, he emphasized. Infantino replied: “I like that ‘we’re going to do it together’ concept.”
“The 2026 World Cup will serve us all as an experience for 2030. We have many challenges in the future but they are all beautiful. There is great interest in the world to organize the World Cup. The task of the leaders must be that: to try to unite , lead, all go forward together for the good of football in South America and the world,” said the FIFA headline.
Infantino praised the South American organization, congratulated Argentina on winning the world championship and recalled the magic of Pelé, Maradona and Messi, whom he considered “football legends”.
