The Wels table tennis professional Andreas Levenko surprisingly won the tournament in Antalya, which is part of the World Table Tennis Series (WTT). In the final, the newly crowned national champion defeated the Belgian Adrien Rassenfosse 3-1.
“All the adrenaline had to come out,” said the 24-year-old about his jubilation at the end. “These two results with the state championships and the Turkish Open – that was just amazing. I invested so much time and training. Now the harvest has followed,” said Levenko, who spoke of a “milestone on the way to qualifying for the Olympics”. Levenko is already expected at his club’s Bundesliga guest appearance in Wiener Neustadt.
The defending champions from LinzAG Froschberg are in the league final. After the tight 3:3 in Stockerau, a clear 4:0 home win over the Lower Austrians followed on Saturday.
