Edin Dzeko would have ended up at Juve by a hair in 2020, in the end the deal fell through. Now the 35-year-old striker spoke about it in an interview.
Inter Milan striker Edin Dzeko has in the Gazzetta dello Sport talked about his failed move from AS Roma to Juventus in 2020. The former top scorer of the Bundesliga assured that he hadn’t known anything about the negotiations.
“It was Roma who first held talks and reached an agreement with Juve,” said Dezko, who replaced Romelu Lukaku at the Nerazzurri in the summer. “I didn’t even know they were negotiating and didn’t get into it until later.”
Dzeko’s move to Juventus failed
Nevertheless, the transfer failed in the end because, according to Dzeko, the Roma “couldn’t find a replacement.” Favorite player Arkadiusz Milik stayed with SSC Napoli and Juve brought back Alvaro Morata instead.
Since moving to Milan a few months ago, the 35-year-old Bosnian has scored seven goals in eleven competitive games. His contract with Inter runs until 2023.
