In the best-of-5 final series of the Austrian Volley League (AVL) against record champion Sokol/Post, which begins on Easter Sunday (8:25 p.m., ORF Sport+) in the Kleinmünchen sports school, the Oberbank Steelvolleys Linz-Steg are aiming for the treble.
The Upper Austrians have already won the Supercup and the national cup, and now not only the home advantage speaks for the team around captain Lilly Hager (“A final series is always special”). Steg has been at home for a year and unbeaten against the final opponents for five games. These are ideal omens for the fourth championship title overall.
Sokol/Post were the final opponents last year as well, the series ended 3:1 in favor of steel volleyball. And this year? “We have the potential to be dominant and to exert pressure,” says coach Facundo Morando optimistically. There shouldn’t be a lack of loud support. The women of Linz invite volleyball club groups (of five or more people) to their home games free of charge.
