The Argentine Leandro ‘Tati’ Mercado, a motorcycle Superbike rider in recent seasons, will enter the Endurance World Championship (FIM EWC) in 2023 and will ride a unit of the Japanese brand Honda.
The 31-year-old driver from Córdoba decided to join the structure of the French team Viltais Racing.
“A new chapter of my sports career. Happy to announce my incorporation to the Honda Viltais Racing team to compete in the World Endurance Championship”, indicated the native of Jesús María.
“A great challenge ahead, but I am more than ready to give 100 percent in this new experience!!”, added the pilot on his social networks.
“I had the opportunity to meet all the people on the team in a great atmosphere. This year, the team changes to Honda, whose bike I have known for 2 years, and I give the team all my experience, ”he noted.
Mercado will use machine number 333, although it will have the traditional 36 painted on its hull, according to the site ‘Campeones’.
The first competition of the FIM EWC event will be from next Thursday the 13th to Sunday the 16th, with the 24 Hours of Le Mans Motorcycle, which will have its 46th. edition.
The test will take place on the Le Sarthe circuit, in France, 4,185 meters long.
Then the 24 Hours of Spa Francorchamps will be held at the traditional Belgian racetrack, between June 16 and 18. The third requirement will be the Suzuka 8 Hours, on the 5,281-meter circuit. It will take place from August 4 to 6.
The season is scheduled to close in France, from September 14 to 17, in the competition called ‘Bol D’Or’, which will take place for 24 hours on the Paul Ricard circuit (5,673 meters of rope).
