“That was one of the worst halves I’ve ever seen from SV Ried.” Numerous voices in the Oberbank Business Club of SV Guntamatic Ried sounded like this or something similar. The fact that Rieder only went into the dressing room with a 0:1 deficit against Hartberg was solely due to the lack of chances exploited by the guests from Styria. Donis Avdijaj scored the opening goal for the guests after 19 minutes. The goal was preceded by a risky pass from Markus Lackner to Diego Madritsch. The 17-year-old lost the ball. Ruben Providence, who was as quick as an arrow, appeared in front of Ried goalkeeper Samuel Sahin-Radlinger, who initially hesitated a bit when running out, but was then able to fend off the ball with his hand. Avdijaj easily converted the rebound into an empty goal. The Hartbergers should have taken a higher lead at halftime, Ried didn’t have a single offensive action worth mentioning and was whistled goodbye to the break.

During the break, Ried coach Maximilian Senft left Roko Jurisic, Christoph Monschein and David Ungar in the dressing room in front of only 2800 visitors. Matthias Gragger, Belmin Beganovic and Julian Wießmeier, who has often not even been in the squad in recent weeks, came into play for the trio. In the 48th minute, Rieder finally had their first chance. Leo Mikic shot the guest goalkeeper Raphael Sallinger from a completely free position. But that was pretty much the end of the Rieder offensive actions.

Around 63 minutes had been played when Hartberg captain Jürgen Heil appeared alone in midfield in front of Ried goalkeeper Sahin-Radlinger after Rieder lost the ball. Heil lobbed the ball into the goal to give the guests a 2-0 lead.

“We’re fed up”

The reaction of the fans: “We’re fed up”, followed by a long and loud “board out”. In the 72nd minute there was hope again. Matthias Gragger put the ball in from close range after a cross from Leo Miki and a header from Seifedin Chabbi. But the hopes of Rieder were short-lived: Substitute Dominik Prokop countered in the 83rd minute to make it 3-1. The Rieders were certain that the goal had been preceded by an offside position by Hartberger. The video referee confirmed the hit. Substitute Luca Kronberger was sent off with yellow-red in added time.

In the table, Rieder are already three points behind Hartberg, and they also lost the direct duel (Hartberger won all three previous games). This means that Ried would be relegated if the points were tied with Hartberg at the end of the season.

WSG Tirol is coming to the Josko Arena next Friday. If Ried doesn’t get a win soon, it will be dark in the table basement.
