Independent reached an agreement this Saturday with the Uruguayan Paul Repetto to take over as the next technical director to replace the dismissed Leandro Stillitano.
The leadership of the Avellaneda club and the coach’s representation finished resolving economic and tax aspects, which paved the way for the official announcement in the next few hours, sources from the negotiation reported.
Repetto, 49, will take the position temporarily occupied by Pedro Damián Monzón, after the departure of Stillitano, on March 18 after the draw against Colón de Santa Fe at home.
The Uruguayan will have his first experience in Argentine soccer, after a respectable career in South American soccer, with a brief stint in the United Arab Emirates.
The new coach of “Rojo” was champion of Uruguayan soccer with Defensor Sporting and Nacional -his last team- and also of the Ecuadorian tournament with the Liga Deportiva Universitaria de Quito.

In the parallel country, he also directed Independiente del Valle, which he classified finalist of the Copa Libertadores in 2016.
Repetto is expected to take over next week, after Wednesday’s game with Rosario Central, which would determine his debut in the classic against Racing Clubscheduled for Sunday the 16th at the Libertadores de América-Ricardo Enrique Bochini Stadium.
Independiente, who will host Estudiantes de La Plata tomorrow for the tenth date, is ranked 22nd in the Professional League with 9 points in 9 games.
