FC Blau-Weiss Linz showed the right reaction in the 2nd soccer league after losing 2-1 at bottom team Young Violets: Coach Gerald Scheiblehner’s team defeated Admira 3-1 on the Easter weekend and got back on the road to success.

That’s why there was no extended Easter vacation – we trained twice again on yesterday’s holiday. “We don’t currently have time for days off. I don’t care if you can peck your eggs in June,” said Blue and White coach Scheiblehner with a smile. His team has no problem with that, on the contrary: Once again, the blue and white team proved their strong character. The blue and white kickers had already managed to turn around after a weak start in autumn. Even the most recent fall in the amateur team of Wiener Austria or the brief unrest surrounding the imminent departure of sports director Tino Wawra did not throw them off course. Scheiblehner: “We always believed in ourselves. You need that conviction – and even more so when you fall behind early on after a defeat like against Admira. But anyway, I’ve never worried about the mentality of this team made.”

Once again, goalscorer Ronivaldo played a large part in the home win against the Lower Austrians: “We had an outstanding Ronivaldo that everyone pulled themselves up to,” Scheiblehner also praised the Brazilian. The 34-year-old has already saved twelve goals this season – and hits every 105 minutes on average. Only Liefering’s Karim Konaté (note: 14 goals, scores every 93 minutes) has a better rate in the second division. On Friday there will be a direct duel between the two top strikers.

Steyr back on the relegation zone

Forward kicker Michael Lageder can celebrate just as often as Ronivaldo scores goals: in the 3-2 defeat against GAK, the 31-year-old scored for the red-whites for the first time in almost ten years. The situation has worsened for his team after the away defeat in Graz: Vorwarts fell back to 14th place, the first relegation place.
