The Oberbank Steelvolleys Linz/Steg cannot yet become champions on Sunday (8:25 p.m.) in front of a home crowd at the Kleinmünchen Sport Middle School. There the best-of-5 final series goes into a third match with a score of 1:1.
The defending champions lost game two at former series champion Sokol/Post after a hard fight 2:3 (25:22, 22:25, 23:25, 25:23, 9:15). It was a real thriller that took place in the Budocenter in front of Sports Minister Werner Kogler. At times, both teams offered top-class performances.
The women from Linz didn’t skimp on criticism. “Congratulations to Sokol/Post. We didn’t take our chances,” said captain Lisa-Marie Hager. “Sokol defended very well and played braver than we did. In the end we ran out of breath,” analyzed Sophie-Marie Maass.
There will be a championship celebration – for whomever – on April 27th at the earliest. Then the fourth duel in Vienna is on the program.
