The ÖEHV team defeated Italy 3:2 (2:0.0:1.0:1.0:0.1:0) after a penalty shootout at the end of the second training camp in Innsbruck on Friday. Team boss Roger Bader and his team will continue their preparations in Deggendorf next week with two games against Germany on Thursday (7:30 p.m.) and Saturday (5:00 p.m. in Landshut).
The third storm row gave Austria a 2-0 lead in the first period. Felix Maxa (12′) and Simeon Schwinger (18′) each scored after preparatory work by Henrik Neubauer. The Italians, who won 2-0 in Bruneck on Wednesday, equalized late with goals from Jose Antonio Magnabosco (27′) and Alexander Petan (58′). In the penalty, Dominic Zwerger became the match winner.
“I’m happy with the win, but I would have wanted it after 60 minutes,” said Bader. “All in all, the win is definitely deserved, we were the better team, had significantly more shots on goal, only had ten weak minutes in the game. We dominated Italy twice, that was not to be expected,” explained the Swiss.
