With a large number of people, the training and classification tests of the Turismo Carretera and Turismo Carretera Pista began today at the brand new racetrack in the Santa Cruz town of El Calafate.
The pit area was closed shortly after 10 o’clock for the start of the tests on a sunny day full of the roar of the engines.
The mayor of the tourist village Javier Belloni expressed his satisfaction with the achievement since, he said, “we went from dream to action” and insisted that “Calafate is our brand and we are going to defend it”, after which he thanked those who made the completion of the Quique Freile Municipal Racetrack is possible.
Some of the drivers present expressed their appreciation for the characteristics of the new automobile circuit and expressed that “we came with our families to enjoy El Calafate and its natural beauties,” which include the Perito Moreno Glacier.
After this Saturday’s event, which will end at approximately 7:00 p.m., great expectations are set for this Sunday with the TCP finals (with 20 laps or 40 minutes) and the Turismo Carretera final with 25 laps or 50 minutes of competition.
The Municipality of El Calafate informed that, after the races, the general public will be able to enter the pit area to take pictures with the drivers and tour the place.
