Almirón still can’t find a way around Boca, who lost in the final against Estudiantes

Mouth Juniors accumulated the third consecutive defeat in the Professional League after losing at the end against Students de La Plata by 1 to 0 in the first game with his new DT Jorge Almirón in La Bombonera.

Veteran scorer Mauro Boselli, trained at Casa Amarilla, declared the visitor’s victory with a spectacular scissor shot inside the box 40 minutes into the second half.

The fall also meant the third in a row at La Bombonera, where the public fired the team with whistles. Since the 1971 Metropolitan Championship there has not been a similar negative streak at home.

Boca will seek to break this trend next Tuesday when it receives Deportivo Pereira from Colombia on the second date of Group F of the Copa Libertadores.

When it seemed that zero equality punished the bad game of teams, Boselli regulated the “law of ex” with a great definition resource that did not have the best response from “Chiquito” Sergio Romero.

“Pincha”, Tacuary’s rival from Paraguay in La Plata, next Tuesday for the Copa Sudamericana, won again at the Alberto J. Armando stadium after 15 years.

Boca started the game with seven changes in relation to the previous defeat against San Lorenzo but did not play well and paid for it in the death throes of the game. The appearance of the promising Valentín Barco was not enough for him, nor was it with the return of “Changuito” Exequiel Zeballos after two months or with the entry of Sebastián Villa, who contributed a little more depth.

Once again, the last Argentine champion was indebted to his fans, not only because of a new defeat but because his level of play is not rising and that is what worried the 50,000 people who occupied the Bombonera the most.

The first half was forgotten, with only one risky situation. The visitors raised the match with a line of five, two brand midfielders, another mixed, a midfielder and Boselli up front.

Faced with this scheme, Almirón countered it with a 4-4-2, this time without wingers and with a double nine made up of Darío Benedetto and Miguel Merentiel.

The match went by with a boring procedure, which the public sought to transform with their constant encouragement, especially the boy Barco (18), who had his first time with the public in the mythical “xeneize” stadium.

After 20 minutes, Juan Ramírez (injured) gave his place to “Pol” Fernández, but nothing changed in the midfield, where only the Paraguayan Óscar Romero showed a share of clarity.

Just towards the end of the first half, a shot by Merentiel that passed the right post of goalkeeper Mariano Andújar generated some hope.

In the final part, Amirón tried to give more depth to the attack with Villa, the team had its best minutes of the game at the beginning of that stage but it did not translate into the rival goal. He barely registered a shot from Weigandt, well covered by Andujar.

At 40 minutes, with a powerless Boca, the coup de grace arrived: Boselli outlined himself in a center and tried a scissors that surprised the goalkeeper below, on the right post.

Eduardo Dominguez’s team embraced three gold points and Boca withdrew in frustration, with the anger of their fans and the request to win “at all costs” in the next cup game.
