The Minister of Economy, Sergio Massaand the president of the AFA, Claudio “Chiqui” Tapiaannounced this noon that the Argentina will host the next championship Sub 20 worldwhich will take place from May 20 to June 11, reported sources from the Palacio de Hacienda, as Ámbito had anticipated.
Massa and Wall lead the act from 12 at the Ministry of Economy in the company of the board of directors of the Argentine Football Association (AFA) and the Minister of Sports and Tourism, Matthias Lammens.
The head of the economic portfolio revealed that the Argentina has the necessary financing to be able to carry out the ecumenical tournament, after the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) withdraw the candidacy of Indonesiabecause that country does not recognize Israel as a sovereign State and opposed the participation of that nation in the contest.
In this way, the economic authorities will emphasize that the Argentina will be able to hold the championship, for which, the FIFA will allow the participation of the selected sub-20 of the AFAas the organizing country, despite not having qualified.
Wall was accompanied by the leaders of the AFA, Rodolfo D’Onofrio (River Plate), david garzon (Hurricane), Marcelo Achilles (Defenders of Belgrano), William Raed (Mitre de Santiago del Estero) and the general secretary, Victor White (Racing Club), among others.
Meanwhile, prior to the announcement this afternoon, the Government published today a decree that authorizes tools for the postulation.
“Given the importance of the upcoming event, it is considered appropriate to authorize the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Tourism and Sports to sign the documents that constitute the necessary government guarantees within the framework of the application for the celebration of the event called ‘Copa FIFA U-20 Men’s World Cup 2023”indicates in the recitals of Decree 201/2003, published in the Official Gazette.
The regulations bear the signatures of the president Alberto Fernandezthe chief of staff, Augustine Rossi; and the ministers Matthias Lammens (Tourism and Sports) and Diego Giuliano (Transport).
