Eight Austrian legionnaires are on master classes in Europe

LJUBLJANA. The Upper Austrian Under-21 team player Pascal Estrada and the Tyrolean Mateo Karamatic secured the Slovenian football title with Olimpija Ljubljana five rounds before the end last weekend, six other red-white-red legionnaires are also up with their clubs in European professional leagues master class.

Aleksandar Dragovic: The ex-ÖFB team defender courted by Rapid and Austria can secure the championship title with Red Star Belgrade in Serbia on Saturday. It would be his eighth abroad (4 x FC Basel, 2 x Dynamo Kiev, 1 x Red Star), only David Alaba (11) has more. Red Star is 20 points ahead of Backa Topola ahead of the seven-match championship round.

Gernot Trauner: The former LASK captain, who has extended his contract until 2026, directs the Feyenoord defense as the undisputed regular. With five rounds to go, the traditional Rotterdam club is eight points ahead of Ajax and PSV Eindhoven. Since ÖFB legionnaires are also in action at Ajax with Florian Grillitsch and Eindhoven with Philipp Mwene, an Austrian has become Dutch champion for the first time since Marcel Ritzmaier 2015 (Eindhoven).

Ahmet Muhammedbegovic: The Lower Austrian central defender is in his second season at Dunajska Streda at the top of the table. The lead over reigning champions Slovan Bratislava is three points.

Yusuf Demir: The U21 national player did not get more than five short appearances (most recently on January 4) for Galatasaray, the title in Turkey is feasible with a lead of six points over record champions Fenerbahce.

Cican Stankovic: The former Salzburg goalkeeper made six appearances for AEK Athens at the start of the season but has only been a substitute since the beginning of October. AEK are top of the Super League play-off, level on points, ahead of city rivals Panathinaikos with six rounds to go.

Daniel Sikorski: The 35-year-old striker Daniel Sikorski, who played for SV Ried in 2015/16, played seven games for Aris Limassol this season and has not yet played in the championship round. Aris Limassol goes into the last six games of the season as leaders a point ahead of APOEL Nicosia.
