Markus Blutsch, who was diagnosed with testicular cancer in January, could hardly have imagined his comeback any better. The 27-year-old captain scored Pregarten in the semi-finals of the soccer state cup. In a spectacular match at SPG Friedburg/Pöndorf, Blutsch converted the decisive penalty.
“Family, friends, work and the club – everyone has my back. That gives me a lot of strength,” said Blutsch in February in an OÖN interview and at the time expressed hope for a quick return to the pitch. “A comeback in the spring would be a dream.” This wish came true today with the substitution in the 66th minute. The fact that he would also become a match winner makes the day particularly special.
Friedburg/Pöndorf mourned a missed opportunity in front of 150 spectators. Because the hosts had scored the supposed winning goal to make it 2-1 in the 91st minute. But Pregarten fought back, Orhan Vojic scored his eleven to make it 2-2 in the 93rd minute in the goalless overtime. The penalty shoot-out ended 3:5.
The match ASK St. Valentin against Mondsee had to be canceled because the pitch was unplayable.
