FC Bayern Munich did not score a goal against Manchester City from the game. If you listen to Thomas Tuchel after the end of the Champions League, you can hardly believe your eyes and ears.
“We had them back on the hook, even more than in Manchester. We didn’t get any encouragement or luck in the game in 180 minutes. I’m very satisfied,” said Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel at DAZN – after his team was 1: 4 overall kicked out of the Champions League against Manchester City. “Two couldn’t keep up the level: the pitch and the referee. Grade six from the first minute,” continued Tuchel.
After the first leg on Tuesday last week, Tuchel had already praised his team over the green clover: “I refuse to talk bad about the performance in any way. I saw a very, very good performance up to the 70th minute. I’m very satisfied,” said Tuchel on Amazon Prime Video – mind you after the 0: 3 in Manchester. “There was absolutely more in it, we deserved much more.” He also told his team that he refused to hang the game on the result, explained Tuchel.
FC Bayern Munich better in many game dates
Unfortunately, there are no B grades for a nice game in football. And the fact that they were the superior team is also irrelevant. What counts are goals. And they speak a clear language: Despite numerous chances, FC Bayern Munich only scored one penalty goal against Manchester City in more than 180 minutes.
Yes, the referee delivered a debatable performance in the second leg. Yes, the players had their problems with the grass. But the fact that Tuchel is now standing up and not addressing the weaknesses of his team shows above all that Bayern are currently only ready for the title if they talk nice. Thomas Tuchel has work to do. But he probably already knew that – no matter what he says in front of microphones.
