Sub 20 World Cup: FIFA confirmed Mendoza as the venue, but started controversy around the Malvinas

Mendoza was confirmed as the venue for the Sub 20 worldwhich will be played in our country between May 20 and June 11, and will integrate, together with La Plata, Santiago del Estero and San Juan, the four squares where the ecumenical contest will take place.

Given the erroneous versions that the provincial government had to give in to a request from FIFA to change the name of the Malvinas Argentinas Stadium, which from this ecumenical championship would be called the Mendoza Stadium, sources from the Mendoza Ministry of Culture and Tourism came to the crossing said information, clarifying “that it will continue to be called Malvinas Argentinas Stadium”.

In this sense, the spokespersons consulted told Télam that “What FIFA reported is that they will call each venue by the name of the city, both for their communications or their fixtures, and not by the name of their stadium, therefore they will call our venue Mendoza”.

The same will happen with the Bicentennial of San Juan; the Diego Armando Maradona of the silverand the Mother of Cities of Santiago del Esterowhere the governing mother of world football will call them not by the name of the stadium, but by the name of the city where they are located.

The draw will take place tomorrow in Zürich, Switzerland, and Argentina, as the organizing country, will be seeded and will share ticket 1 for the draw with Uruguay, the United States, France, Senegal and Italy.

Bolillero 2 will be made up of England, the Republic of Korea, New Zealand, Brazil, Ecuador and Colombia.

Bolillero 3 will be made up of Nigeria, Uzbekistan, Japan, Iraq, Honduras and Fiji; while Bolillero 4 will be made up of Guatemala, the Dominican Republic, Gambia, Israel, Slovakia and Tunisia.
