The late goals conceded 2-2 in the first leg at home took their revenge on Thursday, as did two embarrassing blunders, the English lost 0-3 (0-1) and now have to get through the Premier League to qualify for the Champions League. Seville’s semi-final opponents on 11 and 18 May are Juventus who overcame Sporting Lisbon.

Bayer Leverkusen is Germany’s last hope of a European Cup title after beating Union Saint-Gilloise 4-1. The opponent was determined in the game by AS Roma and Feyenoord Rotterdam. The Dutch around ÖFB team player Gernot Trauner had to go into extra time in the Olympic Stadium.

In Seville, Sabitzer got fit in time after a slight injury before the most recent Premier League game, and felt the motivation of the hosts right from the start. The Styrian had hardly been “peeled” after a check on the sidelines from Seville’s substitute bench, but things got much worse for the English. Harry Maguire, own goal scorer in the first leg, opened the current table 13th. La Liga’s chance to make it 1-0 with a major back-pass error, which Youssef En-Nesyri used dryly (8′).

Unlike last week’s clash, when United failed to find a clearer win against the long-handled Spaniards after quick goals from Sabitzer, this time Sevilla were the leading team. Shortly before the break, Lucas Ocampos’ next goal (42′) didn’t count because of offside, and Sevilla made up for it almost as soon as the game started again. Loic Bade hit the corner with a header and lower bar to make it 2-0 and thus the preliminary decision. United increased as a result, but remained without clear chances. Sabitzer made room for Fred in the 68th minute, and in the finish En-Nesyri struck again after a serious mistake by United goalie David DeGea (81st).

Juventus took the lead at Sporting Lisbon, buoyed by the suspension of the 15-point deduction in Serie A hours earlier, thanks to Adrien Rabiot (9′) but had to work hard after winning 1-0 in the first leg. Because the Portuguese found the right answer with the foul penalty by Marcus Edwards (20th) and still had chances for the opening goal.

Thanks to a dream start by Moussa Diaby (2nd) and later Mitchel Bakker (37th) and Jeremie Frimpong (60th), Leverkusen led 3-0 in Brussels and didn’t let the promotion go away. In addition, Adam Hlozek (79th) scored for the Germans, Casper Terho (65th) scored the consolation goal for the hosts.

In the Conference League, AC Fiorentina came back from 0-3 to 2-3 at home thanks to two late goals by Riccardo Sottil (78′) and Gaetano Castrovilli (92′) against Lech Poznan, and thus achieved the overall score of 6-4 semifinals The opponent is either OGC Nice or FC Basel, which went into extra time.

AZ Alkmaar went 2-0 after 90 and 120 minutes against RSC Anderlecht, reversing a 2-0 loss in the first leg and winning 4-1 on penalties. The Dutch meet West Ham United, who, after trailing 1-0 to KAA Gent, managed the perfect turnaround within nine minutes through Lucas Paqueta (55), Declan Rice (58) and Michail Antonio (63) and finally 4 :1 or a total of 5:2 won.
