Two-time Tour de France champion Tadej Pogacar fell at the Liege-Bastogne-Liège spring classic and had to abandon the race.
The Slovenian cycling star suffered a wrist injury and has been taken to hospital for further evaluation, his UAE team said. The incident happened after 84 kilometers. Apparently the Dane Mikkel Honoré caused the fall after a puncture.
Pogacar, who won the race in 2021, started the race as the top favourite. A win would have completed the 24-year-old’s Ardennes triple after winning the Amstel Gold Race last Sunday and the Flèche Wallonne on Wednesday.
