STEYR. Can SK Verwarts Steyr give up their place at the bottom of the table in today’s home game against Amstetten? Since the last round, the red and white have held the red lantern in the 2nd soccer league after the 2-1 defeat at the amateurs of Rapid Vienna – today the team of coach Daniel Madlener could at least make the second teams with a win against the Lower Austrians of Wiener Austria and Sturm Graz.
“The situation is very difficult at the moment, but a lot is possible, especially when it seems hopeless,” says forward coach Madlener, who is again hoping for a special duo today: Tobias Pellegrini and Gerhard Dombaxi. Both striker Pellegrini and winger Dombaxi have hardly been part of the regular squad recently – although they are Steyr’s top scorers. Pellegrini scored five times and provided three assists for the weakest offensive in the second division, Dombaxi has four goals and one assist. “That speaks for them, that’s why they will start again today,” reveals Madlener.
So two bench warmers should bring back success in Steyr. Alem Pasic will also start again today after his suspension. Striker Faris Zubanovic, on the other hand, is still out.
