FC Barcelona: Yusuf Demir moves from Rapid Vienna to Barca

Some of the biggest clubs in Europe had Yusuf Demir on their list. The top talent from Rapid Vienna is now joining FC Barcelona.

Super talent Yusuf Demir is on loan from Rapid Vienna to FC Barcelona. As both clubs officially announced on Friday, the 18-year-old midfielder will initially be loaned out for a year for a fee of 500,000 euros and has also extended his contract with Rapid until 2023. Barca will then have a purchase option for ten million euros in the summer of 2022.

“Moving to FC Barcelona is an incredibly big childhood dream come true. I will join my favorite club and the biggest club in the world,” Demir said in Rapids’ message. The current U21 national player of Austria, in whom Manchester City, Juventus Turin, FC Bayern and Borussia Dortmund are said to have been interested, said: “I came to Rapid as a small child with big dreams and now go out as incredibly grateful Boy.”

Yusuf Demir is said to initially play in the B team at Barca

Demir is initially planned for the B-Team at Barca. The second team of the Catalans, trained by the former Spanish international Sergi Barjuan, plays in the third Spanish division, Demir is said to recommend himself for the A-team there.

Demir switched to Rapids offspring at the age of ten and has been considered one of the greatest talents in Europe for several years. At the age of 16 he made his debut for the professionals in Vienna, last season he scored nine goals and three assists in 32 competitive appearances. In March Demir also celebrated his debut in Austria’s senior national team in a 3-1 win against the Faroe Islands.
