Eintracht Frankfurt: Glasner speaks Thursday for the first time about farewell

Oliver Glasner and Eintracht Frankfurt will part ways at the end of the season. The coach and the sports board have agreed on this.

Eintracht Frankfurt’s outgoing head coach Oliver Glasner will publicly comment on his farewell to the Europa League winner for the first time on Thursday (1.30 p.m.).

Despite his suspension in the league game against FSV Mainz 05 on Saturday (3:30 p.m. / Sky), the Austrian will contest the press conference before the game, as the Bundesliga soccer club confirmed on Wednesday morning. On Tuesday evening, Eintracht announced that the cooperation would end after the season finale after two years. Glasner’s last game is therefore the cup final against RB Leipzig on June 3rd.

It is now “not the time to say goodbye or look back,” Glasner was quoted as saying in the statement. You still have “a crucial mission” ahead of you in the remaining weeks. “It is very important to me personally that Eintracht can celebrate great nights on the international stage again next season,” said the 48-year-old.

Glasner led Eintracht to their first international title in 42 years last season. This season, the club not only reached the cup final in Berlin, but also the round of 16 in the Champions League. In the Bundesliga, on the other hand, Frankfurt has slipped significantly in the table after ten games without a win. In the spring, the Glasner club, which is also traded with top European clubs, offered a contract extension beyond 2024.
