The Argentine cyclist Laureano Rosas became the new leader of the International Tour of Formosa, by winning stage 3 this Saturday on a 189.8-kilometer circuit between the capital city and the town of El Colorado.

The sprinter from the Buenos Aires city of Las Flores, from the Gremios de Cutral Co team, won in a time of 3 hours, 50 minutes and 3 seconds, followed by his compatriot Lucas Gaday as escort and Ecuadorian Cristian Pita in third place.

The long but flat stage anticipated a massive final sprint. But a cut of 37 cyclists -of the 126 who started the stage- broke the race at kilometer 85 with a difference of up to a minute and a half in relation to the chasing pack.

With just 5km to go, thanks to the work done by the Gremios de Cutral Co team, the peloton managed to hunt down the escapees to reach the finish line in a massive final sprint.

The result of the day placed Rosas as the leader of the competition, with a total time of 09:23:31; followed by the Uruguayan Pablo Anchieri -09:23:37-, and the Italian Samuel Quarante -09:23:39-.

Tomorrow the race will end with the last stage, divided into two sections, an eight-kilometre time trial on the Paseo Costanero de Formosa and then another 100-kilometre stretch.
