World champion Remco Evenepoel narrowly won the second thriller. The Soudal professional won just ahead of the two Ineos professionals Geraint Thomas (+1 sec.) and Tao Geoghegan Hart (+2) and took back the pink jersey from Andreas Leknessund. Evenepoel is now 45 seconds ahead of Thomas and 47 ahead of Primoz Roglic (Jumbo) in the overall standings. Lukas Pöstlberger (Jayco) finished 50th, 3:16 minutes behind.
Nice success for the Innviertler Sebastian Schönberger (Human Powered Health): He got the mountain jersey at the Tour of Hungary.
