The Austrian national football team player is suffering from a meniscus injury that caused him to miss Saturday’s 2-0 win against Wolverhampton. No information was given about the exact degree of the injury and the duration of the absence. This leaves open whether Sabitzer will play for United again and be ready for the June internationals.
The ÖFB selection meets Belgium in the European Championship qualifier on June 17th in Brussels and Sweden on June 20th in Vienna. Sabitzer is also unclear at club level. The Styrian was loaned to ManUnited by FC Bayern until the summer in January. Since then, the midfielder has made 18 competitive appearances and scored three goals for the “Red Devils”. In recent weeks, Sabitzer has often indicated that he would like to stay in Manchester. However, Bayern want to collect at least 20 million euros for the 29-year-old.
Sabitzer was brought to Munich by coach Julian Nagelsmann, who has since been fired. It is unclear how his successor Thomas Tuchel thinks about Sabitzer’s possible return to Bayern.
