Surprisingly, the regional league east champion Stripfing was granted approval by the permanent neutral arbitration board. The Bundesliga had denied the Lower Austrians approval in the second highest division for the 2023/24 season in the first two instances due to infrastructural requirements.
The Lower Austrians will initially play their home games at the FAC pitch in Vienna-Floridsdorf, an alternative stadium. “The arbitral tribunal assessed – unlike the internal Bundesliga authorities – the documents submitted by the SV stripping to the extent that a sufficient number of youth teams – consisting of their own as well as syndicates – has been proven. With regard to the requirements for the infrastructural prerequisites, the arbitral tribunal also determined that the prerequisites are to be regarded as fulfilled,” it said in a statement.
Bregenz determines the number of relegations
There will also be a climber from the Regionalliga Mitte – Leoben or LASK Amateure OÖ. If the Vorarlberg club Bregenz, who are looking for promotion, also finish in the first two places in the West Regional League at the end of the season, there will also be a climber from this league. This means that three teams from the 2nd division have to be relegated. Steyr is currently in 14th place.
