The Secretary of Malvinas, Antarctica and South Atlantic, William Carmona, questioned on Twitter the measure that was taken and in a way criticized the Mendoza governor for elevationRodlfo Suarez.
“In the end it was not a ‘bolazo’, as Governor @rodysuarez said, the Malvinas Argentinas Stadium during the Under 20 Youth World Cup. And they not only covered our islands, they also did it with the Argentine flag. #LasMalvinasSonArgentinas,” Carmona wrote on his Twitter account.

In turn, he indicated that the Mendoza government never consulted with the Foreign Ministry and that “they did not give a satisfactory explanation of what they negotiated and agreed with FIFA.”
“In the absence of a satisfactory explanation, will there be at least one request for a public apology from the governor?“, concluded Carmona with an elevation shot for Suárez.
Previously, another controversy had been generated because the International Federation of Associated Soccer would have requested the change of name of the World Cup headquarters (from Malvinas Argentinas to Mendoza Stadium), something that was denied by the undersecretary of Sports of the province, Federico Chiapetta and also by the Minister of Tourism and Sports of the Nation, Matías Lammens.
