According to a media report, Holger Blask is one of the favorites in the search for a managing director in the German Football League (DFL) – however, a return of the DFB manager is currently considered very unlikely.

As the “Bild” reports, the DFL supervisory board is said to have held talks with the current managing director for marketing and sales at the German Football Association (DFB). Blask did not want to comment on Wednesday when asked by dpa.

Before moving to the DFB, Blask worked for the DFL for several years until 2020, where he was a member of the management board as Director of Audiovisual Rights. At the DFB, he is responsible for TV rights sales, among other things, and has recently signed several large contracts for the association.

DFL supervisory board chairman Hans-Joachim Watzke recently announced that he would introduce a new managing director in July. After leaving Donata Hopfen at the end of last year, Oliver Leki (SC Freiburg) and Axel Hellmann (Eintracht Frankfurt) will continue to run the business until the end of June. Jan-Christian Dreesen, the new CEO of FC Bayern Munich, had rejected a request from the DFL to take over the top office.
